Throw Blanket

I have quite a few DIY projects that I've seen online that I really want to try sometime.  I'm just a little apprehensive about my skill level and patience to see it through.  This DIY throw blanket would be a really fun project - now all I need is a sewing machine and the perfect fabric.  Then just add good book (or my new Kindle!) and nook of the sectional couch and you're set.
FULL TUTORIAL HERE.

 final product!  now work backwards...

Materials
  • Wool or wool-blend fabric; size depends on how large you’d like your throw to be. My fabric is 60″ wide and I purchased 1.5 yards, for a total throw size of 60″ x 52″, which is a nice size for general, lazy-everyday use.
  • Trim, enough to cover the two raw edges of your fabric plus a few extra inches
  • Sharp scissors
  • Straight pins
  • Sewing machine and matching thread

chandeliers

Recently purchased a chandelier.  Now just trying to figure out how I'd like to incorporate it into my apartment.  Most likely it will need to find a home in my bedroom since I have three roommates - and where do you put a chandelier when you share your common areas with three other girls?!  It was an impulse buy, but one that I am extremely excited about!

love song... for coffee.

Random video I came across that Ashton Kutcher and his step-daughter Scout put together... In an unexpected twist I actually really love her voice, but above all else I love coffee. Mmm, on that note....

Bold Entry

As an apartment renter, these types of posts are more about aspirations than any sort of reality. In this particular instance, I'm just inspired by the bold move these people made in the entryways of their homes. For a room that's not technically a 'room' it feels like it has a character all its own. I'm not sure I would take the same path as these photos, but it just gets me thinking about what I'll want to do in my own [hypothetical] home one day...

one thing's for sure - I'll have an adorable furry friend like the one in the last picture!

bosworth faves

I know, I know. Let's all just swoon over Kate Bosworth a little more. To be honest - I don't always love her looks... but recently I have been dying over her choices on the red carpet. Here are 2 [very different] favorites:

dress: D&G

Although this dress is from Spring 2011 RTW, it has such an incredibly vintage feel. I haven't seen something like this at an event... ever. At least that I can remember. After all of the pink and green at the Golden Globes (beautiful, but really? They all must have conspired to wear the same hues) this look is just fresh.

dress: Chloe

Agh, this dress is awesome. AND it's backless. Double agh. I can't remember where I saw the picture of the back or I'd include it as well... but you'll just have to use your imagination. Or detective skills.

karla

I get endless inspiration from Karla of Karla's Closet. She has such an insane wardrobe. Whenever I'm feeling a little underwhelmed with my closet, I look to her blog to re-inspire in new ways!

I love how when she loves something she wears it to death - just like me! Her love of full skirts and dresses is refreshing. And most of all I love how she mixes her incredible vintage finds with the new. Basically, I've got a major blog crush.

Matthew Williamson

In an unexpected twist (simply unexpected because I'm not too familiar with this label), I find myself loving Matthew Williamson's Pre-Fall collection. The dresses are sweet and feminine with incredible prints. This solidifies my need for a classic ankle boot! Apparently the time has come for me to find an alternative to my short moto boot that I love to wear with everything. The last dress is particularly amazing!

enjoy saturday!

Happy Saturday! Would love to be wine tasting in a vineyard wearing this outfit right now. It's lovely living in California, all of these things are possible - even in January!

thirsty.thursday

Found myself thirsty for some good inspiration today - perhaps the bright colors of yesterday's post got the juices flowing, but I feel the need for some major change to come about in the next season in terms of how I dress. I adore thrifting and hunting down vintage treasures, a bit excessively at times... it gets my mind off things. My goal for the coming season is to invest in more feminine silhouettes that are figure-flattering. My winter wardrobe requires so many layers (unnecessary living in California, but I love it) that you get lost in all of the clothing. My secondary goal is to go for quality over quantity. We shall see how it turns out, but enjoy a heavy dose of my inspirations of the day:
